Young People

Stewarts Road Adventure Playground

The adventure playground, managed by the Springfield Community Flat, has turned a local brown-field site into a fun venue for young people to meet up during the week, now open 7 days a week

Sunday School

We offer two Sunday School classes during our Parish Eucharist.

The younger class is for children up to Year 6 and the older class for children from Year 7. These classes encourage children to think about the issues surrounding the day’s Bible readings through an enjoyable mix of games, sketches and teaching.

Christ Church Youth Group

Our youth group for young people attending Secondary school, meets every Thursday from 5.30pm-7.30pm during term time.

Recent activities have included bicycle maintenance, cooking, go-carting and just chilling out. There is always time for discussion and there is an emphasis on building relationships between the youth worker and young people so that support and pastoral care is built up. New members are always welcome!

St John’s Community Development Project

The St John’s youth project can be found in the crypt at St John’s church.

Open Monday and Thursday evenings, the project provides a safe place for local young people to meet and puts on various activities during the week. Every Wednesday evening football teams from the youth project meet for training and matches.

Older People

Springfield Community Flat

A group of senior citizens has recently gained the permanent use of a room in the new centre at 110 Union Grove.

They meet every Wednesday from midday for lunch, conversation and occasional activities and every Friday morning for an exercise class. An annual holiday is arranged.

Church Groups

Ask, Seek, Knock…

Twice a year we offer a short course on the Christian faith aimed at those who have a good knowledge of Christianity but want to find out more.

Taking different subjects at each session, the course provides a balanced mix of taught material and the opportunity to ask questions and to think about.

Please refer to the calendar for more information or contact the Parish Office.

Lent and Advent Groups

During Lent and Advent we offer a weekly group for people who wish to explore their faith in a prayerful and meditative context.

A mix of taught material, prayer and worship makes for a thoughtful, enjoyable and relaxing time as we journey together towards Christmas and Easter.

Please refer to seasonal page & calendar for more information or contact the Parish Office.

Searchlight

If you’re new to Christianity, or would like a ‘refresher’ in the basics of the faith, then this is the group for you.

Once a year, we meet over several weeks and to give an introduction to the Christian faith. Not only is it a chance to learn, but it is also an opportunity to meet other people at a similar point in their own journeys.
