A shared mission

We are guided by the unconditional love of Christ to create a loving, caring, inclusive atmosphere where you can seek and be found by God.

Our shared mission is to:

Sustain, develop, continue and encourage our common life in God, our every member ministry, and our outreach to the community around us.

  • proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God

  • teach, baptise and nurture new believers

  • respond to human need by loving service

  • seek to transform unjust structures of society, challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation

  • strive to safeguard the integrity of Creation and renew the life of the earth

  • we are an echo church, have studied ‘Laudato SI’ and are starting to put this into practice.

Weddings

Your wedding should be one of the most special days of your life. Christ Church offers a beautiful, bright and welcoming traditional church setting.

Everyone resident within the boundaries of the Parish has a right to be married here, so long as there is no legal impediment. It is also possible to be married here if you have an historical connection with the parish. If you would like to discuss being married at Christ Church, please the parish office on the number below.

Marriage is a public commitment made before God and others present that you intend to live lovingly and according to the promises you make. It is also God’s gift to the human kind that reminds us of the love of God. Marriage is a lifelong commitment and legally binding.

Banns of Marriage

At Christ Church we call the Banns of Marriage for those living within our parish boundaries, whether you are getting married here or in another church.

Baptism

Baptism is also known as Christening. Parents who live in the Parish are welcome to have their child baptised here or at a church where they frequently worship.
Bringing your child for Baptism is a decision you make to start your child on a lifetime journey of faith. During the Baptism, Parents and godparents give thanks to God for the gift of new life and also promise to support the child as he/she grows in faith.

As a church we also promise to welcome the newly baptised and to keep them in our prayers.

At Christ Church Baptisms usually take place during the 11 am Sunday Service on set dates throughout the year. For more information please contact the Parish Office.

We are delighted to baptise children, young people and adults. We also prepare children (aged 7 or over) and adults, to receive Holy Communion for the first time, usually at Easter.

Preparing for Confirmation

Senior school children and adults are invited to attend a series of special classes to learn more about faith and deepening Christian spirituality through Confirmation. Please contact the vicar for more information.

Funerals

Our clergy conduct funeral services for those who lived in our parish or had a link with us. Services may be held in church or at a local crematorium or cemetery. We offer support in a time of bereavement and help with the planning of funeral services.

There are links in the text above to more information provided by the Church of England, please do get in touch with the Parish Office should you need more information about any of our services.
